I grew up in Victoria, BC and spent the majority of my adolescence in the competitive sport of wrestling. So, when I decided to start my own Personal Training Company in 2012, after years of working in television production, retail, and office management, it seemed like I had found my natural fit. But it wasn’t until after having my own children and adding the Doula and Holistic Nutrition services to my company, that I finally feel like my cup is full.
I always knew that helping others was what I wanted to do for a living, I just wasn’t sure how. After having two children in less than two years, and feeling a lack of postpartum support, I vowed to find a way to better prepare and support other women in my community for this often overlooked, fourth trimester. So, in March of 2018, after taking the Postpartum Doula workshop with DONA, Me 2 You Fitness morphed into Me 2 You Wellness and I decided to begin my life’s work.
In January of 2019, I decided I wanted to expand my business even further to be able to also offer support through holistic nutrition – my intentions being to empower women throughout their pregnancy and into the fourth trimester. I completed my education through the Oh Baby Academy and began offering trimester specific holistic nutrition in the summer of 2019.
I, like so many other women, had an idea of what motherhood would be like. But when I became a mom in 2015, the reality of motherhood was much more difficult than I could have ever imagined. Also, like many women, I thought I could (and should), be able to do it all on my own. I didn’t ask for help, even though I needed it, and I most definitely didn’t know what a postpartum doula or holistic nutritionist was. For those reasons, I struggled with a lot of postpartum anxiety.
I started my own company, because I want to offer support to families in the way I believe in. Non-judgemental, empathetic, consistent support. I offer a safe place to lay your trust in, a listening ear to hear your concerns, two lending hands to physically support you, evidence based research to reassure you, and referrals to guide you. Whether it’s a doula you need in those early days postpartum, nutrition support to nourish you during or after pregnancy, or a fitness trainer to help strengthen your miraculous body that grew a human being, I am here to help you.
When I am not working with new families, I am spending time with my two kids and my
supportive husband. We love spending time in the great outdoors, walking our dog, and making an adventure out of every day. We have learned that life is most manageable and enjoyable, when we take it one day at time, and that it is okay to stumble and fall sometimes. And, it is always okay, to ask for a helping hand.
